Sentinel Safety Height & Slew Limiter

Height Limiter Data Logging (HLDL) — a complete sensor monitoring system for Sentinel Safety Height and Slew. This release extends the existing Sentinel Cloud for Sentinel Vision AI.

Sentinel Cloud v1.30 Release: Introducing Height Limiter Data Logging (HLDL)

Take machine safety monitoring to the next level

The latest v1.30 release introduces Height Limiter Data Logging (HLDL), a comprehensive sensor monitoring system designed for Sentinel Safety Height and Slew. This update extends the existing capabilities of the Sentinel Cloud platform for Sentinel Vision AI.

Height limiters ensure the safe operation of heavy machinery—including excavators, loaders, skid steers, and backhoes—near overhead powerlines, bridges, and inside tunnels by continuously monitoring boom height and slew.

With the introduction of HLDL, worksite managers can now access continuous operational data and deep analytics to track key metrics of enabled machinery directly from the field.

Features added:

Sentinel Cloud comes with a few major updates for existing vision customers.

  • Fleet map: GPS position tracking for each device (last known location with timestamp).
  • Monitoring banner — faults for any systems show upon first login. Faults are cleared when the cause is resolved. Often our vision customers encounter broken cameras, or cables. Ensure the worksite manager has clear insight into the operational status of all Sentinel Vision AI and Height Limiters.
  • Help page — instructions on how to use the website and what the data means. Designed to get new users up to speed with our systems.
  • Online/offline status indicators. Offline machines (not currently running) show a grey dot, or green if they are currently operational.
  • Status indicator on machine pages — shows whether the machines is online/offline and operational status (health, in fault).

One dashboard | Your entire fleet

The Sentinel Cloud dashboard brings your machine safety information together in one place.

Height Limiter Data Logging

  • Combined dashboard for showing height and vision data. The landing page now displays Sentinel Vision AI detections, Height Limiter states, GPS locations, fault history, and maintenance schedules of the entire fleet.
  • Height Limiter active graph — Operational runtime of each machine in the fleet, and for how long the Height Limiter was active (on or off). Helps the worksite manager identify machine and Height Limiter utilisation over a workday.
  • Timeline — a gantt-chart like display of all events sent by the Height Limiter. The timeline shows all operational states of the Height Limiter, whether it is on, off or set (for configuration changes) and for how long. It tracks Height Limiter states below limit, at limit, overshoot states. Machine level tracks the roll/pitch are within operational ranges for the Height Limiter to function properly.
  • Height Limiter Graph — Shows the height of the boom over time.
  • Slew Limiter Graph — If fitted, the yaw of the machine is shown.
  • Pitch Graph — Shows the pitch and roll of the machine.
  • Log upload — request log file upload for a specific day. Helps us to better diagnose faults in the field.
  • Tables — all raw data uploaded by the Height Limiter is available for interrogation or export to an Excel spreadsheet.

Height Limiter Devices Track and Send

Height and Slew Data Logging1a
  • KeySwitch Events — Height Limiter ON/OFF/SET. When the Height Limiter has been activated/deactivated.
  • Startup/Shutdown Events — Operational lifecycle of the machine.
  • Height Limiter State — Boom height is tracked when boom approaches the limit set (below limit, warning, at limit, overshoot).
  • Slew Limiter State — Horizontal swing angle is tracked when boom approaches the limit set (below limit, warning, at limit, overshoot).
  • Machine Level — Pitch/roll ensure the height and slew limiters can operate safely.
  • Fault Messages — error codes (sensor fault, output fault, etc).
  • Configuration Settings — Track all system calibration and config changes.
  • Maintenance — Notifies when the height limiter is due for a service.
  • Attachment Settings — When the loader or excavator bucket is changed.
  • GPS Positions — Latitude/longitude with timestamp.

Fleet Management

Enables organization of a large fleet into ‘sub-fleets’ or worksites that may be assigned to other users within your organization.

  • Users can select a “Site” from dropdown (e.g., “Brisbane Site #1”, “Sydney Depot”).
  • All vision and height limiter data (timelines, tables, graphs) show only data from machines assigned to the selected site.
  • Other users within your organisation may be assigned to view a single or subset of sites.
